May 2026 BPOC Graduating Class

Pioneer Technology Center recently celebrated the graduation of its Basic Peace Officer Certification (BPOC) class with a ceremony and reception honoring the accomplishments of the newest law enforcement professionals entering the field

Family members, friends, instructors, and community leaders gathered to recognize the graduates and the dedication required to complete the demanding training program. Brian  Hermanson, Kay County District Attorney, served as the evening’s keynote speaker, encouraging graduates as they begin their careers in public service.

Graduates of the class include Beau Brumley of Ponca City, who serves with the Kay County Detention Center; Russell Leffew of Winfield, Kansas, with the Kay County Detention Center; Greg Thomas of Ponca City, non-commissioned; Brett Haney of Ponca City with the Ponca City Police Department; and Zakari Sharp of Blackwell with the Blackwell Police Department.

Throughout the program, students participated in intensive classroom instruction and hands-on scenario-based training designed to mirror real-life law enforcement situations. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, cadets developed practical skills in communication, response tactics, professionalism, and decision-making while meeting high standards of competency and accountability.

Pioneer Tech’s BPOC program prepares individuals for careers in law enforcement through comprehensive training focused on service, leadership, and community safety.

Enrollment is now open for the next BPOC class. Individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement are encouraged to apply. Applications for the upcoming class are due June 15th.
