May 10th, 2017
Ponca City, OK -----The Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) Children’s Lab was awarded a grant from the Kaw Nation Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) Program. This initiative provides child care assistance to Native American families in the Kay County area. In addition to offering child care subsidies, the program also licenses and monitors child care providers. Kaw Nation CCDF seeks to establish and promote quality learning environments for children, including training opportunities and offering stipends for supplies. In September, the program offered a “Let’s Move” stipend to promote the objectives of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative to increase the health and well-being of children in the nation. Pioneer Technology was one of the child care providers chosen for the “Let’s Move” stipend. Garden boxes, soil and supplies were given to PTC to encourage children to grow and eat their own food. The garden boxes also offer many curriculum and learning opportunities. For more information about Pioneer Tech and its program go to www.pioneertech.edu.
