Pioneer Tech Hires New BIS Director

Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) is pleased to announce the start date of the organization’s new Director of Business and Industry Services (BIS), Mike Boon. Mr. Boon will step into a role that will continue to develop PTC’s business and industry partnerships. In addition, he will work closely with PTC’s BIS staff to support and enhance their efforts in meeting stakeholders’ training and service needs, along with economic development initiatives.

“Mike’s background in training and working with business and industry will be an asset to Pioneer Tech. We are excited to have him on our team,” said Dr. Steve Tiger, PTC Superintendent.

Boon began his career in the CareerTech system with Tri County Technology Center (TCTC) in 1990 as the ODOT Heavy Equipment Instructor. Throughout the years, he has held various positions with TCTC including, Adult Coordinator Evening Supervisor; Industrial Trainer; Industrial Coordinator; Campus Director of Full-Time programs; Director of Employer Services; Director of the Pawhuska Campus.

Mr. Boon received his Associates degree from Western Oklahoma State College. He then attended Southern Illinois University, where he received his Bachelors degree and continued his education at OSU, receiving his Masters. Boon also holds the following qualifications: a Standard Trade and Industry Teaching Certificate; a Standard Principal Certificate, for grades 6 - 12; and a Superintendent Certificate, for grades K - 12.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to join the Pioneer Technology Center Team. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the PTC district stakeholders,” says Boon. “I feel there is huge potential for Pioneer Tech to continue to have a positive impact on the community with the services we can provide. This is an exciting time for everyone involved.”
