Two Pioneer Tech students (pictured, left to right) Victor Quinton from Blackwell and Ethan Lawson from Newkirk show how easy it is to be friendlier to the earth by recycling electronics. Electronic recycling boxes can be found at the Pioneer Tech campus reception area, adult training & development office, student services office and cafeteria.
Pioneer Technology Center's (PTC) CareerTech Student Organization has launched an electronic recycling project this fall. The public is invited to donate used cell phones, ink jet cartridges, laptops, iPods, digital cameras, and digital video cameras, all will be accepted in working and non-working conditions.
According to Terri Stone, PTC business, management and administration instructor, "Pioneer Tech's student leaders have a passion to be better stewards of our environment. Through EcoPhones, they discovered that not only can they encourage recycling in our community, but they can also raise funds through the project for student leadership activities."
Recycling collection boxes are located in a variety of places at PTC. Two main locations include the cafeteria and reception area at the center.
Stone mentioned, "Many of us have old cell phones lying around the house. This is a great way to get rid of that clutter and to be friendlier to our environment."
This project will last throughout this next year. For more information call 580.762.8836 or visit www.ecophones.com.
