Ponca City Christian Academy Visits PTC Biomedical Sciences Program

Ponca City Christian Academy recently visited Pioneer Technology Center’s Biomedical Sciences program to learn about the digestive system. Here Gracen Seabau, Anjali Sweetman and Cerena Chaney observe as Hannah Henley explains how the digestive system begins with food being chewed. Each student presented a different part of the digestive system.

Ponca City Christian Academy (PCCA) fifth, sixth, and seventh graders recently visited Pioneer Technology Center's (PTC) Biomedical Sciences program. Mia Sweetman, PTC Biomedical Sciences Instructor, talked to the students about the digestive system and facilitated a hands-on activity. The PCCA seventh graders just finished learning about the digestive system, so the visit was a great opportunity to enhance what they had already learned.

The PCCA students were divided into groups and each group was given a large piece of paper. Each group was to draw and label the digestive system. They were very creative in using pipe cleaners, cotton balls, and even balloons to make up the digestive system. Each team then presented their digestive system and explained how the esophagus, stomach, and intestines work together to digest what we eat.
